There are a few on Aqua bid and I believe modaz had one on ebay and was working on breeding them himself, they are generally more expensive though because that form of ray extention is difficult to achieve - but beautiful and in my view worth a bit more cash!

yeah he was a king genotype, im not working on developing them as yet, im doing some different tails and space is very hard to find at the moment other wise i wouldve kept him.

petco is starting to have some interesting types of betta. however the stores around me the bettas are still near death or only 1.5 or 2 months old and its very hard to pick out one that will live.

they never have anything other then vt or sometimes ct females, I want varity.

Yep, I saw them about a month or two ago at the Petco near me. Didn't check the price. It's strange to me that they would be more expensive. I thought they were a different species, so breeding them would be out of the question. Am I wrong?

A different species? they are a different tail type. You can inter breed different tail types like King Betta X Crown tail or Crown tail X Half moon, or even Plakat x Crowntail.
The only crosses not normally done are wild type x half moon for example

No, that's not what I meant. The King bettas don't just look like a different tail type. They are also much, much more bigger in size and actually for the ones I saw their faces looked different to me than regular bettas. So that lend me to think they were a different species... sorta like betta splenda vs. betta macrostoma vs. betta pugnax vs. betta coccina, etc. Plus, I thought I remembered reading somewhere that they were.

The info I've read on this says they are also known as Chupang Raja or Betta Raja. They are actually a species in their own right and come from Indonesia and not related to the Betta Splendens that most of us know.

Really!?!?! thats pretty cool the one's I saw on aqua bid looked like crown tails but with different rays. My apologies ! I must be looking at a different type or something? If anyone knows its Netty so Id take her word for it!

awwww yes easy mistake to make, the king tail to me is the crowntail that has the crossed rays. I just call the plakat one plakat.

LOL   LOL Netty knows loads of stuff about Bettas, Snakes, Geckos..........but still doesn't know we have a cooker LOL

Excuse me folks while I go punch him
