Well, I cleaned the tank, and right after my keyholes' colors became very vivid and defined. I have a large piece of slate in the tank on the substrate, but the female decided to clean the walls of one of the caves? She cleaned for a while and then they started to spawn. The male fertilized the eggs, but then they both ate them. This is understandable since it is only the first brood. However, I want to know how long it will take before they try again, and also, are there any steps i can take to ensure success during the next spawning? thanks for all your help!

Just wait. Do the water changes and feed them right after. My blue acaras spawned all hatched but a day after hatching the father decided he was going to eat them but the mom kept guard. I went from 300 to 8 in a week. Only other fish in the tank is a medusa pleco. I saved one it's in a fry trap. BUT They are at it again. I think they will spawn in a day or so. I hope this time dad helps watch the babies.

If they did it once they should do it again. Just keep doing what your doing. The less fish in the tank with them the better.
