Keyhole And Gbr

Yep Keyholes do nicely as the centerpiece for smaller community tanks :good:

so let's say- 2 xGBR and 2 x KHoles?

both of them grows upto 7cm-- although
in photos-- Keyholes looks slightly bigger than gbr
is that right-- or do i need glasses? :D

i can't find any queen arabesque, or king tiger or zebra pleco
anywhere :( so i decided for an albino bn - hope it's good
algae controller...

i'll be getting them from direct tropicals-- i phone them a while ago
and they only do deliveries on wednesday --- so i'm looking
forward to see my new fishes on thursday.. -
i'll submit my order later tonight. hope it's a good online shop though--
i've been reading the testimonials and it's reassuring..

whats the tank size?
by GBR i pesume you mean two Gold Bristlenose?

Both can get to around 4-5 inches including tail fins

the other three won't really touch Algae anyway and will cost you at the very least triple the price of a BN much much more for the zebra.
BNs are very good Algae Eaters

Is the tank cycled?

:hey:

:good:

yup!

i have 2 tanks running-- one is completely cycled
and the new one i've been cycling for nearly 3 weeks now-
this new one is going along quicker -- been cloning my matured tank
to help cycling my new set-up.. and water parameters show okay---

i was pertaining to a German Blue Ram-- :D
the tank is the new model of Juwel Rekord 60--
which is the Rekord 600--well it says on the box it holds
approx. 63liters-- silghtly bigger taller than the Rekord60-- which
only holds 54liters approx.

i have 3 apistos 3 dwarf gouramis and 7neon on my recent one-- :D

at only 16G its going to be a bit of a a squeeze for two bristlenose, 2 keyholes and dithers

For 2 keyoles alone you should have at least 20G

:(

oh man!! i wouldn't like to upgrade just yet-- :D
i'm positive my wife won't approve..

the stocks i have in mind are:

2 X keyhole
2 X blue ram
1 X bn pleco

and maybe a shoal of cardinals(sorry i mentioned rasboras in my first post)
cardinals are what i'm after-- got mixed up there-

the keyhole and rams is either 2 males or 2 females..
i'm not planning of getting a pair yet---

:D

You wont fit 2 keyholes and 2 rams - at a push in 16 - 1 keyhole, cardinals and BN Plec.

Definately dont try 2 cichlid species in 16g there wouldnt be enough room for territorial disputes im afraid.

Agree with others that 16 gallons is too small for a pair of keyholes and GBR's. I have one keyhole and one GBR in my 28 gallon, and although they make peace at bedtime (sharing the same sleeping area), during the day when food is around they'll take turns trying to stare each other down.

Another issue is that supposedly keyholes can be rather picky about choosing mates (which is why I decided to go against getting a pair), and the common practice is to buy 6, allow a pair to form, and return the remaining 4. Not something I'd suggest if you're starting out with a 16 gallon.

Go with the GBR, but make sure you've got a nice stable tank with excellent water quality as they aren't especially known for hardiness. XD

:X

awwww...
what if one of each?

1 Blue Ram
1 KeyHole
1 BN -
1 Gold Ram

forget about the shoal of fish-- cause i have it
already in one of my tank...

:D

if still a NO NO.. then
might upgrade to a Fluval Roma125
which will surely result to a Mr and Mrs
all out WAR--

Considering a pair of rams requires 20g then no to the blue and the gold.

You can have either one blue, 1 bn and maybe try a keyhole, but definately not both of the rams. Keyholes are more passive (to my knowledge) than rams so watch it doesnt get bullied.

Personally I wouldnt try it, but if you have plenty of plants, caves and good filtration you could give it go.

that's the reason why i would like to get them--
i bought plants from Aquarium Gardening yesterday
and accdng to few of my research about the Fishes i'm after-- they would
be more than happy in a well planted tank... and
as you know-- i'm Rams Big Fan-- now i saw these Keyhole
and i like it as much as i want GBR--

i'll try your suggestions-- :D
about 1BN, 1Keyhole and 1GBR--
hope it goes okay--

tnx--

ahhh, i hve always wanted a keyhole as they are peacefull, but i have never even seen any anywhere! i want to go into my lfs one day and see a few in a tank so i can have a good look at them! will one be ok in a 30G? or should i get 2 etc?
