Juwel Pump 400 Won't Work

Hi everyone, please bare with me as I'm new to this. I got a tanka and i has a Juwel Pump 400, i lug in the pump but nothing happens, am i doing something wrong or is it just dead? I got a replacement pump of same model and the same thing, i plug it in but nothing!?!

i had the same problem, use a cock tail stick to manually move the impellor then plug in

Hi, yeah I have the same with my Juwel pump sometimes. It just needs a bump start, ie turn it on and off quickly a couple of times and if that doesn't work then a little tap should do the trick.

Haven't tried 'Truck's method but if it works then great.

If the pump is an old one you may want to strip it down and clean the impeller. They do get a sludge build up around the magnet as do all pumps.

Thanks for your help, the first pump was dead and the new one just needed a little kick start, i found out that the water going through the pump lubricates it and because it was new, obviously there was no water hence the helping hand it needed to start. Working fine now.
