Juwel Internal Filter & White Spot

I have a juwel 180 vision with an internal filter. I'm currently treating for whitespot, so should I remove the black sponges within the filter? I know that you should remove carbon but im not sure if thats the same with these sponges. Any help graetly appreciated.

hi. generally the black sponge is the carbon so yes i would remove as if it is carbon then your med's will not work

yes, take them out, then throw them away. replace with some more green sponge.

Did you really mean green sponge? That's the nitrate sponge. The 'ordinary' Juwel sponges are blue. I would replace the carbon sponge with a blue one.

lol, yeah, blue. mind you, i have seen no evidence, of any difference. except in Juwels blurb. just put some sponge in.
