Hi All

Does anyone know if it's safe to remove the built in filter of Juwel tanks while the tank is still full of water and fish?

My filter seems to be on it's last legs but I do have a spare internal filter to replace it. I want to put it where the current built-in one is.

What's the best way to remove it?  Seems well stuck on with silicone.

Thanks

All you need to do is replace the powerhead thats inside the filter. If you still want to completely remove it, use one of those stanley knifes where you snap the ends off for a fresh sharp blade. Extend it all the way out and use a sawing motion to cut behind it to cut through the silicone thats holding it to the glass. Note doing this voids warrantee.

As above regarding filter removal, a long sharp blade can carefully cur the blobs of silicone holding the filter in place.

But as regards the filter poor performance, have you recently checked the impeller rotates without catching the cavity and have you cleaned the impeller/cavity with a damp cotton bud to remove the gunk? Cleaning alone can have a shocking positive result with the Juwel powerheads!

Thanks for the replies.  The powerhead seems fine when I take it out of the filter and just pop it in the aquarium.  Seems as powerful as it ever was.

I've also taken out all the filter material and cleaned or replaced it.   So not sure why the output is so low now.

Just to let you know I managed to sort the filter flow.  All I did was re-arrange the foams.  Who knew that'll make such a difference.
