Had this guy for about a month now and has gone from 4" to 6" in that time which seems like pretty rapid growth for his species, anyway here are some photos.

wow stunning,i would love one myself, they have a beautiful 7-8inch african lung at a lfs...iam soooo tempted

least with the south american they are abit smaller and more possible to keep with tank mates

Its in a floating 18"x12"x6" at the moment, the 6" height is perfect for him to go up for air.

Nelly go for the african, i was thinking about setting up another tank for one myself. Also despite their aggresion i don't think the annectens we see mostly in the uk get quite as big as the SAL.

Wow there is one sitting in my MA and I really want one but I just dont know how I would justify the tank size lol maybe if I had a tank system in a fish house I would do it but its a shame as they do look fantastic!

Isn't 18" x 12" x 6" a little on the small side for a 6" fish? let alone one that will get considerably bigger...?

please don't comment like this on a fish you clearly know very little about. The juvenile's are very inactive and are very poor at finding food as a result. Keeping one this size even in a tank as large as 10g could result in it starving to death or it being to deep for the fish to surface regularly for air hence the reason these fish have a high mortality rate in captivity as juveniles. Don't worry i have a larger tank for him as he gets bigger.

Hes a beauty always fancied a lungfish myself

whats he going in with eventually? your bichirs?

im all for odd fish but these fellas really don't do it for me.
all that said, we all have different tastes and its good that we like different things or it would be boring!
i'm sure, in its own right, its a lovely fish

If i find another large tank i might just invest in one
theres a african lung at local for 35pounds..not sure of sub species, then theres one for sale with danny here

however if you google the name latin name he has it comes up as african, probally just a typo....oh yes have you got him in with anything,

lfs has there 7-8incher in with corys and dwarf cichlids at present

This guys on his own at the moment but i plan on him going in with the bichirs once he's a foot or so. I love the africans but wouldn't risk them with my poly's. May attempt to set up another tank with one and experiment with various tankmates in the near future.

WOW fish keeping can really bring the A-hole out in people!

A simple "no, 18" is fine for a juvi as they have problems finding food" would have been sufficient.

Nope, I know very little about Lungfish that's why I asked.
No need for arrogance, and telling people not to comment on a "opinion forum".

I apologise if i offended you its just that quite a bit of the time when someone says something like "let alone a fish that will get considerably bigger" there real aim is just an attempt to flame someone and give themselves an ego boost. If you were genuinely inquisitive or care for the welfare of the animal then i do hope i didn't offend you.

No worries mate, sometimes it's hard to tell what people mean when it's all text!
Anyway, nice fishy! Would be interested myself but all my tanks have Snakeheads or moody Oscars in and they might have something to say about it!
