I Currently have 6 cull guppies in the tank (all from a 20 gallon tank that holds my breeders. I have two surviving(barely) plants from my last setup, and two spider plants set up in an aquaponics (I don't think I spelled that right) setup. And I also have some maple branches in the tank to give it a more natural look (and they release tannins as a perk too). I'm planning on adding more plants as well and shrimp and maybe some other fish once I get the tank cycled. If you have any suggestions for the tank (plants decor fish other creatures) I'd be glad to hear them!

Looks great! Some crypts with maybe a few carpeters for the bottom. Maybe a lily plant? I think red would POP with this tank imo. So maybe like tiger lotus and lily bulbs, and cryptocoryne wendtii red would look cool! Maybe some Jungle Val for background plants? Options are endless. For fish maybe add some snails, like a mystery or nerite. Prob just one of either. I'm unsure about adding more fish to the setup, like maybe 2 more guppies, but I feel uncomfortable with 8+ fish in a 10g. Just me?

I completely forget about adding snails! And you are right a pop of red would look amazing! Thanks for the plant suggestions! I might add two or three more fish of another species like Tetra or something small to prevent over population.

Good point you could go there. Maybe rasboras? Like a few harlequins, only thing is they like to be a family (school). But they are hard as rocks and have a cool black and light red color, and show purple around that black mark when exposed to right lighting.

It’s great to have fish from years before . I started keeping Endler’s and Platy’s last December and they are flourishing . My Aplocheilus lineatus Golden Wonder Killifish are going strong from the original pair I got locally in 2019 . Things you read about diseases and whatever makes a guy not want to get new fish so it’s always nice to have fish you’ve always had . You know what you have .

Fish you've had a long time are the best.
In a ten gallon, your plants will outgrow their home unless you choose very carefully. I had a pygmy Vall years ago, and they'd be good. One or two Cryptocorynnes, as said above. Maybe something like Rotala, if you don't mind a lot of trimming as it shoots up.

In a 10, you can easily be over run by plants that get big (you have learned guppies do it too).

Yes. If you get Val in a 10g you just have to trim like crazy, but I agree pygmy Val would be a better choice as far as the size of the tank.

Those would be great for adding some variety to the tank. I'll have to see if I can find them at my local fish store. Thanks for the ideas!

Thanks for the advice I haven't had great success with plants in the past (bc I just keep hitting them while cleaning the tank) so I'm not two worried about trimming them. If I can get them to grow well enough to trim them that'd be a win for me.

Has anyone had any success with ordering plants off of Amazon?
I have ordered porthos plants from Amazon to grow hydroponically on the top of the tank from Costa Farms. They arrived in great shape when the weather was cooler.

In Pennsylvania it's mid summer so it's 70-90 degree temperatures so I'm not sure how they'll ship. Thanks, I'll probably end up getting some plants at my local fish store.
