Just Recieved My New Discus In The Mail! (pictures)

I like the striking kinda "ghostly" look that turquoise discus have...especially in planted tanks, but red is my favorite color (since black doesn't technically count as a color).

lol, yeah. >< I don't think they'd be as striking if they were black anyway. Black fish need more interesting shapes to really stand out. Pity I'm not an angel fish fan.

I think I am going to buy some of these down the road as well.

Ooh very nice! They are all so pretty...can't decide which I like best! Discus are really what got me hooked on the hobby, and is one of the reasons I take such good care of my current tank (well besides the fact that I enjoy doing maint.)...I consider it good practice for when I'll have the space to own my own.

Your new fish are cute! And the on-the-road ones are really nice.

I think they send you a free red discus hoping you'd call and order 4 more of them! ^^"

I've always been curious about mailing fish. How do they do that? Obviously, not just putting the fish in the plastic bags and throw it in the mailbox. ><"

So what if you don't have space for the free fish.. What do you do with it? Not sure I like that

I was thinking the same thing. It was nice of them to give you a freebie, but I'm not sure that it was a very good idea. Fair enough, you do have room for it, but what if you didn't actually want it. Should've just given you free dry goods instead.

Not a dig at anyone, by the way.

Really one Discus wouldn't make a difference if your tank was adequate for them.As they are such a big business I would of thought they were clearing up a few left over Discus. But you never know, they might of done it out of liking you!

The fish are put in a styrofoam box, which is slid inside a cardboard one. The styrofoam is sealed. Inside they are in double bagges plastic bags, full of air, medicated, and sometimes anestatized with clove oil etc. They are normally starved for a day so as not to make too much waste in the bags.
