Hey all. I just noticed today, though it may have shown up yesterday, a white ball near my pregnant black Molly's anal fin. She is more squared off than a few days ago but she's still more oblong. How much longer do I have? Any harm in trapping her now?

Your molly should be giving birth very soon you can trap her already although you have to do it gently without stressing her out or she migt abort the fry

Well, I trapped her last night and so far, just poop. Lol. She hates it in there and I feel bad. I got her in there gently as I could with very little exposure to air. Hope she's alright!

Um you cant keep her In there for more than 48 hours so just release her and post a picture of her to really see how squared off she really is

I'm aware of that. I'm trying to get a picture but to the naked eye, she appears to have eaten a square... In the lense of a camera, she doesn't seem like it. I'm trying to get a picture that accurately captures how she looks but she's a bully and won't stop chasing the other fish long enough to get a good view.

If shes about ready to give birth I dont see why she would chase around other fish she might have a few days or so

Shes the girl on the right. Still, in person, she appears far more swelled. I dont know. I just feel like shes been perpetually pregnant for 3 or 4 weeks now and nothing is happening.

That's what I thought, but my tank is a bit crowded, maybe shes trying to make room? Or maybe she's just a b****. lol.

I don't mean to be so anxious, but I fear with the crowdedness of my tank, with the cats and the frogs, the fry will get eaten all up before being noticed by my kids. I want to make sure I get her trapped because a birth in tank is going to result in no fry in just minutes, im sure.

Lol you spoiled her with a nice tank what else could she want anyways what I did with my pregnant platy is I bought a divider to keep her from the male you should do the same or just put her In a seperate tank

I don't think it was a white ball, just her pooper. lol. I didnt realize how defined it was on black mollies. I doubt her birthing tube is showing yet. Guess I'll just sit and play the waiting game and hope we get to see and save some fry before they get eaten. I just feel like these mollies have been pregnant for ever and never really progressing.

I feel you. anyways I posted a topic of a few platys i was wondering if you could tell me if theyre pregnant or not it would really help

Omg I just looked at my black molly and it looks squared off just like yours o.o

Yours looks like it has the same wait as mine. She's coming away from being rounded and the bottom is flattening out, but the corner where the anal fin is still needs to come down a little more. Like mine, she's almost more of a triangle than a square, as of now. lol

I'd say she still has nearly a week to go yet. Mollies get a lot bigger than that when getting ready to give birth. Also, she'd stop chasing and start hiding and breathing heavily. She may start to clamp her fins every now and then as well. I've found they sometimes do which is when you can tell she's in labor or close to it.
