So decided to spend money I really shouldnt, but its raining, needed something to do this afternoon, so went to a couple of LFS on the lookout for brasiliensis really, but saw some jurupari in one LFS but they only had 2, knowing they like larger groups decided to pass up and went on to another LFS, where I shouldnt go as I know they have lovely fish.

They had a group of 5 jurupari and a group of 5 surinamensis. Having had suri's before I decided to go for the jurupari :hyper:

So just got them home, acclimatised and released, poor guys, went and hid immediately, mind, so would you with a severum 4x your size decides to come and check you out

So will get pics up soon, let them settle before I start flashing a camera at them :D

Didnt realise either that they can max out around 10" thought they would go to 6-8"!

Cool, minx, Will look forward to Pics,

Where did you get them from, if you don't mind me asking ?

:) Did i help push this sale thru? lol

I'm interested in your pics to and how they get on with your other guys.

Are you still keeping the Surinamensis?

I read Juruparis never get past 5-6" but are often mixed up with Daemons which get close to that size.

Well I went to coxwell's, who only had the two - btw whats happened there, empty tanks, dead fish, not looking good at all! But I went to Mere Park again, Telford - cant resist that place, just too many nice fish.

Couple quicks one, not great, but they are very stressed and shy right now, although the two larger ones are being adventurous and checking out the full spec of the tank :)

Glenbo, yeah did kinda push me into going to look again for some, plus I believe these are daemon jurupari, not true jurupari.

Yellow looking? Next to the juru? They are nicaraguan cichlids, beautiful fish.

Yeh they are very nice, never kept them before...how big do they get?

Also minxy can you put up a full tank shot of your tank? just being nosy :p

They look really nice Minx, Congrats,

Haven't been to Coxwell in months tbh, even then they didn't really have a good range of fish in stock,
Will have to check out these Mere Park stores, don't really go into telford so have never been.

Nics around 6" I belive, I have two, both female.

Full tank shot on its way, hold up :D

Thats lush Minxy...we have a similar taste in fish and just wanted to be nosy to see how they all looked together :)

My mrs just said i should get some wood like you have, how much did that cost? usually bits like that are stupid prices locally!

I was all set to add clown loaches but your Nicaguensis or whatever they are called has given me other ideas! lol

Your green is seriously catching up your Gold also man! (Sevs)

Rainbows really brighten it up aswell,I might do some changing aroudn soon and swap my Black Widows for some Rainbows.

The wood has been collected for a while, from various tanks Ive had, the redmoor root pieces - the long spindly stuff - was around £20 for the two pieces, but they reach from one end of the tank to the other. The huge piece in the middle was around £20 as well, my family believe me to be certifiable for spending so much money on pieces of wood

The nicaraguan cichlids are great fish, the males being the duller of the species, fairly placid fish (although one of my females is far more dominant than the other and can bully the other), but so long as they arent with anything too aggressive are fine.

And I love my rainbows, the original plan for this tank was fully planted rainbow tank - which lasted all of 5 minutes once I got the red spot gold sev, the rest of the cichlids followed rapidly.

great set up. your fish look great in there

Glenbo still get the clown loach they are great fish especially in a group
