Hi, as some off you will know I've been painting the back of the fish tank and as its 180lts to move it away from the wall I have to nearly do a drain down, and the same to move it back so in 3 days it's had two massive water changes anyway

This time when I filled it with the hose pipe i added my prime for as usual then I primed my fluval 305 to get the air out of the System

And noticed a load of stuff come out of the jet end it was like tiny bits of yellow/white scum, the filter soon cleared it up the tank had been running for 6 months now

I was wondering if anyone new what the build up in the pipes would be and how to get rid/clean the pipes out

Thank....

i had exactly the same problem, :) i have a pipe over 3meters in length so no normal pipe cleaning thing around the house would work so i come up with a little design of my own :) pretty simple and it is some string long bit of string and to that i tied some blue kitchen roll and to the end of the string i got a weight i struggled to get something small enough at first i used a watchmaker screwdriver and was shacking the tube up and down to get that down but now i use a lead weight i think that came with the bunched plants that i bought :) its small and bendy so i can wrap it around the string :) for the 3m long pipe its an effort and hell allot of gunk comes out but its nice to have clean pipes :) i clean my pipes once every month or two, but have you cleaned out your filter, usually when start my filter back up nothing has ever come out and i clean out my filters once every 2 weeks to a month :) they get pretty bad even after a few weeks of use

hope this has helped any more questions fell free to ask :)
