Jumping Danios

I have a problem with my Danios jumping out the tank. Even with the lid on, they seem to get out the gap at the back were the heater and filter cable and ail line go through !! How can i stop this ??

May try that. Im just surprised at how the fish got to where it did. it must have jumped out the back where the gap is and flapped its way to the front under the side board !!??

I just used black duct tape after putting my heater right next to the intake of my pump

No gaps for my cat to get her paw into and no gaps for fishies to jump out.

Unfortunately its the corner of the lid that's cut out, so there's nothing to stick the tape to !! Will probably go with the sponge idea when i can be bothered to get round to doing it !! Thanks peeps

just cant work out why they are jumping out. Yesterday wasn't too warm or anything. The tank is clean, the water parameters are good. So what's making them want to jump?

What size is your tank? Dimensions and volume.

Not sure on the exact measurements but its not big. Bout a food long and its a 30 litre

Sounds way to small for danios IMO. Maybe trying to whizz around as they tend to do and just don't have room.

I suspected as much. Danios are really active and zoom around like lunatics given enough space. I think they need more room!

Very hyperactive fish for their size, that is why 4-foot tanks are recommended.

my butterfly fish jumped through the holes your are taking about. the mrs heard it hit the floor and put it back in when i was out.

im going to duct tape them up

I've done the sponge thing now. Hopefully i'll have new lids for both my tanks soon so it won't be an issue !!
