Hi,
I have some Java Moss coming from Nannyspetals next week sometime. I'm going to tie some to a slate like my riccia, but can anyone tell me how people achieve a "ball" shape of it on the ground?

An example of what I mean is here: http://showcase.aquatic-gardeners.org/2005...y=0&vol=0&id=58 in the middle.

I've never used it before so is it just a case of scrunch it up lightly together?

Thanks for the help,
Simon.

My guess would be that it has been first tied to some flatter stones, and allowed to carpet.

edit...

I just noticed the actual ball of moss in the middle of the tank. My eyes were drawn to the carpet at the bottom. lol

I would think with that as well that it was tied to something round and allowed to grow. I don't know if the moss would comtiune to grow in this shape, or if it would start to grow up though.

You coulod try leaving feadback about that tank on his guest book and see if he gets back to you.

Thanks everyone, I'll see what the people who's pics they are say aswell.

I had a though about filling a hairnet with a rought "ball" of moss and seeing if it kept its shape too - but the method above sounds good.

If it's in the shade, will it still grow pretty well? It says low light is fine.... but what's it realy like?
