Ive Got Some New Fish....

If you're lucky you might see a fry or two that survived, or she couldn't wait and swallowed them. Either way, as enthusiatic of a breeder as she obviously is, I'm sure you'll have plenty of fry in the future.

Cool.. I was thinking towards the end, i would have liked to take her out and put her in a seperate tank or something so i could watch her with the fry and watch them grow :hyper: .. but i hadn't anything to put her in. I have a spare heater/filter/decor ect, but no tank -_- ... Though i was in the lfs yesterday and thought of getting a small tank for next time. What do you suggest the min size would need to be for her ?

By the way, love that pic of her holding, she just looks so irritated.

Lol.. yer.. I think it was becasue he kept wanting more (typical male) but she couldn't fit anymore in.

I'd say a 10 gal should work, large enough she doesn't feel cramped, and you can use it to grow out the fry for a little bit. Depending on how many fry you get, once they reach an inch, you'll want a larger grow out tank. :good:

Great, she aint all that big at mo anyway.. ill pick one up next time i have some spare dollar. :thanks:

He's at it again lol, but with the other female this time.. I just managed to catch'em at it the other night and she already had a gob full at the time... they must have been at it all day, i had no idea.

He's grown and coloured up a little more since last time.. also more aggressive :S .. it says on cichlid-forum that his type are 'mildly aggressive' but infact he's more aggressive than most of my other fish!! I got a few pics too.. they aint the best pics but its hard to get a descent pic of him.. he's so active!!

So last time the other female held for 3weeks, do you think she'll be the same ?.. im planning on seperating her this time to watch her and the fry, which i have never done before.. i want to do it but cant say for deffinate as ive got other things going on aswell.. I shall be getting a 10gal if i do though.. i already have a spare heater and filter ect..

:hyper:

Ive been thinking though.. why these 3 are at it like rabbits but my other 'pairs' dont seem to be interested ??? -_-

EDIT: oh, ignore the background noise on the vid.. its background music to a dvd

WOW!!! They ARE at it again

Good luck, I hope it goes well!! :good:

If this guy is so aggressive, do you suppose he's putting a stop to the others breeding?

Thanks kj..

No i dont think he's putting the others off.. he aint a bully, i just mean he can hold his own. The others just go about life all rosey lol, grazing 24/7 not interested in mating, as though they're past it lol. i dunno... :S

Good Luck! Let us know how it turns out :)

p.s. I wouldn't change the decor and substrate while she's holding. I'd do it after she was moved to a separate tank :good:
