How long should I give my apple snail to move before I give up on him he is semi out and has been for about 4 hours infact he has not moved since he left the shop.

You could always give it a gentle prod and see if it responds. If the water is not perfect or has chemicals in then it might have killed the snail. Alternatively the snail was unwell when you got it. Maybe do a partial water change and see if it moves a bit more after that.

did one just now poor thing has had a hard life all ready as he has a 2 large semi healed crack.

He was moving around the tank when I bought him

It moves after 9 hours and now he's closing again. he is 3cm long what a tidler how big do they get

Snails breed sexually, though some of them have both sets of sex organs. Apple snails are either male or female, so you need at least two to breed them, probably more since they're difficult to sex, so you can just get a small group and hope you didn't beat the odds and get four males. They'll lay eggs above the water line, which will hatch and the babys will drop into the water.

You can check his trapdoor, if it's clamped shut, he's still alive. If he's dead, it'll be loose. Also, if he's partially out of his shell and you poke him or pick him up, he should pull back in.

Mine didn't move for a couple days, and I didn't actually see him move for the first week I had him, so don't worry. Maybe tempt him with some lettuce or cucumber and see if it gets his attention.
