I don't see it. If you just got the fish, there's a good (bad) chance of ich of the molly's caudal, but it's really hard to tell if the spots are on the fish or on the glass. You'd need a close up shot.

Hey thanks for your reply, I got my Mollies about 2 weeks ago and last night moved them to my other tank. This morning only one presented with these golden spots and they are definitely on the fish and not the glass. Luckily he’s acting normal at the moment and swimming around quickly (hence the awful pictures 😀) I could pick up a general cure for him.

Velvet and white spot cause fish to rub on objects because the parasites bite the skin and the fish try to rub them off. The infected fish will usually breath heavily. If left untreated the white spots or yellow from velvet, will spread over the entire body and kill the fish.

The yellow on the fish looks more like colouration than velvet.

He hasn’t been doing that so far. I bought a treatment for velvet just in case and am preparing to remove the shrimp from that tank to a separate one. I am a bit unsure because he did not have that even last night he was perfectly normal but this morning I woke up and he’s covered in yellow spots!

Velvet does not present as isolated solid gold patches as your molly manifests. Based on the photo, this seems more to be a development of her color pattern.

Oh really? It happened overnight so I was quite shocked. The only thing I could find online that it could be was velvet, I asked in a few pet shops as well and they said velvet too.

Velvet is a powdery dusting of gold. I don't see that in your photo. If you see that in life, than it's velvet. But we should be able to see that in a photo too.

Ah well that’s a relief! Yeah it is as it appears in the photo, solid gold spots. No other fish are affected and no unusual behaviours. Perhaps a new colour scheme for the little guy then. 😄
