Edit: I merely spotted this beautiful fish while visiting a LFS... I have no intentions of buying it, but I thought visitors to this predatory section may enjoy my quick amateur piece of footage

Pier aquatics had some in for less than £100 ,if you're seriously thinking of paying that much though id save a little more and go for a Asian Arowana.
They'll quickly reach well over a foot so make sure you have a decent sized tank :)

I'm concentrating on Myanmar, India and Central/West African oddball/less common species, but saw two of these beautiful Arowanas yesterday :)

pier actually had 16" ones for £135 and small ones for just under £30 at one point!!! imo blacks are nicer than asians, i just find the body shape much more appealing.

I think asian's are better looking if you pay decent money for one, the cheaper £200 ish ones look a bit plain. Do you know if Pier get them in at that size regually? Wouldn't mind one at that price!

I paid not even a fraction of that price for mine.

Ahh if only they stayed that color!

biffster, this fish doesn't even get close too a meter and a half, most likely less than half that.

the link its the only thing i could find
on it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_arowana

sorry i stand corrected i have just rang
a mate who as black arowana and he said they will get to about 28 inches still a big fish

Wikipedia is useless for facts :(
As far as i am aware Blacks's get smaller than normall silvers which is a bonus.

My LFS has 2 Arownas, not black ones. 1 is 4ft and is on sale for £400, the other is (I would guess) 4.5ft and was sold for £500
