Is This Normal

When I had otos they used to do this. I thought they were just grazing algae caught in the surface tension. Never thought they were dead as they used to whizz back and forth.

I have 3 in total and it appears to be the same one skimming the surface everytime ... and the strange thing is it's starts and stops around the same time every evening. I notice it between 6.30pm and 7pm and by about 9pm it's given up. It's so funny. He/she doesn't wizz back and forth though just sort of hovers for a bit then moves a bit and hovers before flicking back the right way and darting to the side wall.
