Is this enough cover for some fry to be unprotected by a breeding net with swordtails and mollies

If the whole tank is like that, you might be ok, but what you really want is plants at the water surface, as that's where livebearer fry mostly stay.

Btw; that green and white striped plant isn't aquatic and will die off in your tank; you need to take it out and put it in a pot

Okay what kind of plant is it can I keep it as a bog plant and it is not sweetflag

It looks like a dracaena; often sold for tanks; I have no idea why. They do like it damp, but I wouldn't call it a bog plant.

This is a similar one that we rescued from my ex's tank;

The advice you're being given is correct. If you image search 'Dracaena' you would have seen/read about the plant, as Fluttermoth had advised. There is no need to keep bumping the thread, and triple posting.

The plant will survive for about 6 weeks, after that they actually rot from the root and give off ammonia. Best to take it out.

If you go on ebay, or look in the classified section you can find floating plants like amazon forgbit or water lettuce which are great for livebearer fry, elodea and egeria which can be left floating are also good and grow really easily

thanks for the help i decided that i dont have the time and space to breed and deal with fry since school just started
