Is This Crushed Coral?

Hey

when i got my filters from a guy they came with this stuff in

is this crushed coral?

why i need it is all explained here http/www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/336049-huge-ph-problem/

if it is can i still use it? i dont know how old it is or how long it was used for its been left out of water for a few months

or would i be better getting some new stuff?

That's not crushed coral, just pieces of dead coral. It will still buffer your water though, just not as efficiently as crushed coral. When it gets crushed up, more surface area is created resulting in faster buffering.

cheers is there anywhere i can get a small amount of crushed coral? i can find only big bags
