I have just got a Rio 125, just trying to come up with the fish to go in it.

I would like:

1 or 2 Apisto
1 or 2 Angelfish
A group of rummy nose tetra
Catfish of some kind
Group of Tiger barbs (maybe)
a male betta (maybe)
Endler guppies (bit small so maybe not)

Only problems i can think of are tiger barbs and betta..

some of these might need to be cut out, so it isnt overstocked.

But could someone suggest which one to cut out so i can have as many of the others as possible please.

the angelfish and a betta wouldnt be a good idea either, the angelfish would nip at it. most of those fish youve listed like a fairly fast moving current (as in filter output) but bettas like a very slow current-almost nothing.
i would suggest not having the betta in the tank, the others sound alright tho. :)

also tiger barbs have a tendancy to nip things, barbs ideally should be kept in a barb only tank, they will even pester the angelfish-i made that mistake once

Ok.. i saw angelfish sharing a tank with betta in shop yesterday =\

Well the rummy noses are coming out of my 30L tank, so if theres any problems with the tiger barbs they can go into the 30L. I have cherry barbs in the 30L atm.. might move them over.

Can angelfish be kept alone in a community tank?

Can apistos ke kept alone in a community tank?

Do either of these prefer partners?

thanks

the tiger barbs would nip the angelfish
the apistos are really peaceful and dont deserve to be in with tigers
angels will eat endlers and maybe the rummynose though rummynose are quick

if i were you i would have:
2 apistos
2 angelfish
6-8 corydoras catfish
6-8 rummynose

you would also have room for more stocking :D

in my rio 125 i have:
2 zebra loach
1 platy
1 albino shark
8 cardinal tetras
5 rummynose tetras
5 harlequins
4 corydoras
1 rubber plec

plenty of room for you then :D

Will

Cherry barbs are normally the peaceful out of the barbs, so they should work but just watch to make sure.

1 or 2 Apisto (i'd go for a pair if you can)

1 or 2 Angelfish (again 2 but buy them small and grow them up with the small fish, less likely to eat them then)

A group of rummy nose tetra (yep)

Catfish of some kind (go for something small like cories, steer clear of synodontis species)

Group of Tiger barbs (maybe) (NO would nip the angels fins to pieces)

a male betta (maybe) (NO)

Endler guppies (bit small so maybe not) (mmm maybe ok, if you're after a top water fish, there are some nice danio variants available e.g. long finned)

Thanks for the replies. Ive done about 5 other topics without any response.

Hmm.. i dont really want 6-8 catfish, as they dont really do much.

as for rummy nose i have 3 atm because 2 died, and i am going to get 6-7 more

i really wanted some tiger barbs, as they are really active. oh well.

Cherry barbs are as peaceful as possible. they move relatively slow and don't react to other fish at all.

Hi Hawkins :)

If you really want Tiger barbs more than any of the others, then work the rest of the stock out around them. I used to have Tiger barbs many years ago and they were notorious fin nippers, so you need to avoid having tank mates with long flowing fins. It was a long long time ago, lol, but i think i had a member of the shark family in with them ok, a Plec, and there was something else but the memory is going

A nice shoal of Tigers looks amazing though especially in well planted tank :good:
