we have the same spawning issues in the UK too, novmember, december and up until april are full of failed spawned and mis matches, but im hoping ive sussed out the trick of spawning through the winter periods

its hard work, heat mats are ok but then there is a chill on the water surface that is a problem, i use a heated room now to maintain my fry but still loose a fair few, breeding in winter is so difficult, conditioning takes much longer and the females are less up for it.

We use a small oil filled radiator in our little fish pantry.....seems to be doing a good job so far and means we don't need any heaters in the spawning tanks either. It's quite nice on a cold day to go in and watch the babies and warm up

but not anymore i dont, IVE MOVED IT and it now has more ventilation, YIPEEEEEEEEE i keep my freckles for another season
got extra space for another 360 bettas if needed.
