What about a gorgeous male Betta fish?

That's a very sweet little tank set up you've done - is that about 12" in length?

Bear in mind that thread is recommendations for a 10 gallon tank, not a 10 litre tank.

yeah thanks but ten gals is way more than 10litres easy mistake any more suggesti0ns i thought abouta male betta and said i was going to get one but people slated me for it saying it was to small and they saaid thatlive bearers and neons had to be in shoals so where to big

Unless you can get your hands on some sort of micro rasboro from an LFS ( which will more than likely have to be ordered ) then basically no. If you don't want shrimp, snails or frogs then you've set up a tank for no reason. If you want a fish that's readily available and can live in a reasonably small tank, then get a 5 gallon. It can fit on a desk or small, table, and you will have a lot more options for fish than this little tub. It's nicely set up but is pretty useless if you don't want inverts or frogs.

if i can get hold of some neon micro raspora howmany could i have

Something like galaxy rasboros...around 5 I'd say. To be honest it isn't worth it. You can get plastic tanks in Wilkinsons or any pet shop bigger than this thing and you'd have so much more choice.

im glad you like my tank lol and i already have good sized marine tanks so the whole point is its small

if you have a maidenhead aquatics near you they should be able to order you some brigitte or other micro rasboras you could have 10 -15 of those and 6 pygmy corys in that tank happily enough as long as it's cycled that is

Yes, it is a small tank - but surely that doesn't mean it can't be used - it's heated, filtered and with a light. It's roughly about 3 gallons and I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be used to house a male betta, considering that there are hundreds of people who still keep bettas in silly jars (which I don't condone). This is a lovely little set up - just perfect for the desk and enough room for a betta to swim around, with some little hidey holes and plants etc. If I was a betta I'd be quite happy in there! LOL

Not everyone is into keeping huge tanks, not everyone can afford them or even have space for them.

So if the OP wants a desktop tank and has gone to all the trouble of setting it up I don't see a problem.

I've read of people keeping bettas in smaller tanks than that - and they've lived for years. Mine is in a 12x12" cube tank and although obviously very happy to have all that space to himself, I do think that he'd be just as happy if it was a bit smaller.

So long as the OP does regular water changes and occasional gravel vac it should be fine (btw you can buy mini gravel vacs for very small tanks).

Well, just my thoughts on it.
