The female yellow Molly appears larger than it was when I got it. It's either got to do something with indigestion or it is actually pregnant. How do I find out?

Also just in case if would need one later, it would be great to know if a breeder net would stay well in a tub kind of set up like mine? I would otherwise put a jar in the tub which will be a transparent one and will place it such that the surface water and the top of the jar are at the same level.

Well she looks 'with child' to me

What are they kept in by the way?? Not seen anything like that!

Have you got a male molly as well? If so, they yes, she's pregnant.

Its an artificial pond like setup done in a large (28" diameter) tub. I'm still to add gravel and more aquarium plants to it.

You can see the full view of it here

Your comment "with child" would mean, the guy mollies are kids yet or that the yellow one is actually pregnant :) ?

"With child" is a euphemism for being pregnant.

Yes, 2 males and 2 females. Oh yes, my 5 years old nephew has named all 4 of them:

Yellow Male: Goldie
Yellow Female: Honey
White Male: Krish
Black Female: Jenissa

So the one whose pregnancy status is being investigated is Honey....

Both females will be having babies soon. Whether you'll see any of them is another thing, though. Mollies don't have what you might call a maternal instinct. More of a "ooo, free lunch" instinct.

I'll be adding gravel and a few plants a few larger smooth rocks and a few PVC pipe connectors soon. Hope it helps the babies to hide & survive.

Thanks. I wasn't really aware of that! :) Learn't something new.... Ideally I should have googled

The yellow molly fish was pregnant but I just couldn't figure out when she was ready to deliver the babies. One fine morning I noticed that she had gone completely SLIM all of a sudden. However, I didn't see any baby fish in the TUB. It was only today that the single surviving Molly fry was noticed between the few rocks that I have placed int he TUB. I've put it separate in the main tank itself but trapped in a big Jar. Hope it survives.....

Congratulations! No doubt she will have many more over time and you can try and save a few if you wish or wait and see which survive. I love the tub set up - very unusual.

Pond still looks kind of small.
And it's easier to tell when a fish is pregnant if you view it from the side. Harder when seen from above. But congratulations on your molly fry.

The tub (pond is about 28 inches in diameter and about 12 inches in height. In the video it kind of appears smaller than what it actually is. Considering Mollies don't grow much do you think it should be enough for 5-6 Mollies in all? I do partial water changes in about a week and that seems to be working fine. Have also installed a home made filter....

It's not exactly because of the pond size, but the fish size related to it, they seem like they are quite HUGE fish and i think they get even bigger.
If a swordtail can reach 4 inches on average, and sometimes 5 inches, and they say mollies grow even bigger... I can imagine the pond having them as half the size of a koi carp. o_O

Also, they'd need a 3 foot tank and 28 inches isn't exactly 3 foot. For 5, probably a 4 foot. So a 4 foot diameter pond maybe.

On a side note, I like that lotus. I had some tiny, pink-flowered ones on an old tank, and had to move it to a vase, because my fish kept eating it. But mine floated at the surface, didn't need to be rooted.
