Is Slime Good Or Bad?

I've just been sucking it out with a syringe due to the sensitivity of the fry.

It's fine. I was worried it might be cyanobacteria which in quantity can cause a reduction in oxygen in a tank. But this seems to be a small amount. I agree with tuxy's practice of just sucking it out every now and again. If you notice that it spreads then perhaps you would consider altering the flow or doing something to lower nutrients. In this case I suspect the bacteria just found a warm calm spot and made camp.
