Is Picking Up A Cory Really Really Bad?

Okay well anyway, I was moving my last two cories to the other 10 gal tank today and one was being really tricky so I chased it into the corner, grabbed it in my fingers, then dragged it through the water and into the bucket it was supposed to go in, which I then quickly dumped into the 10 gal it was supposed to go in. This was only a few minutes ago, and now it's kind of acting lethargic and strange.... Did I do a terrible thing, in picking it up? It looks a little reddish around the belly, whereas it was fine before. Am I a fish killer?

you may have inadvertedly grabbed it a bit too firmly and injured it , or it could just be a stress reaction . all you can really do is keep an eye on it

Cories are hardy wee buggers mines chase off my rams whenever food is involved it sounds like its a mixture of what has previously been mentioned - A result of stress and (hopefully not to serious) injury. Keep an eye on him and make sure he's eating when you feed him. He should pull through, like I said - "Hardy wee buggers"

just give him time, i have handled my corys twice when changing tanks, and they are still fine and kicking,

The little guy should settle down again soon enough. Just imagine if somebody squeezed you, you would be a little shaken up for a while.

Its never a good idea to handle fish as you damage their slime coat which protects them against infection and diseases. Hopefully he is just a little bruised.
