I have a small fluval U1 filter and it's in the bottom of the tank so it pushes the water out into the middle of the tank water. It's doesn't ripple the surface or agitate the water at all. Is that ok?

Without surface movement gas exchange will be reduced therefor less oxygen will disolve into the water, some fish require very oxygen ritch water whilst others can cope with lower levels, but more is always better :good:

It should be fine, you'll soon know if there isn't enough gaseous exchange, but this is highly unlikely.
