Hello.
I had a tank with 2 female platies in and they were both quite docile. I bought a Siamese Fighter fish today and put him in with my platies. He was with other platies in the LFS and seemed to just ignore them. Since i've added him, he chases my platies when they go near him and tries to peck at their fins. At the moment he hasn't done any damage but i was wondering if i should take him out now before he does any damage or if i should just leave him and let them establish their own hierarchy. He only chases them when they go near him and they have plenty of places to hide.

Thanks
Lauren

contrary to popular LFS advice, fighters do not make good comunity fish. males are best kept on their own and are happiest that way. he may settle down but keep a very careful eye on him and remove him if he becomes too aggressive.

Yup, they really are best on their own or with something like small cory or ottos.

He was probably ok with the Platies in the LFS as he was well out-numbered. Now he is in a tank with just the 2 then a pecking order will be set out. Platy, not known for their intelligence, will always come of worse.
