Is Elodea A Good Plant To Put In The Tank?

Sorry, didn't see that it floats (or it was implied that it does). I googled it and saw planted ones and thought they were still to be planted in sand.
Thanks, I'll see if I can get one of those whenever the snow clears the way. I will get paid in 2 days from now so I can finally get the dechlorinator and a plant. Rest I'll be putting aside for a new tank that will be twice as big as the one I have.

Mine didn't die within a month, but like I said, most Elodea I had got chopped by the surface feeders and the lotus had to be placed in a vase, it was almost totaled and lost its flowers. It lived up until the winter came... and then it was gone

I had water poppy which is sorta like lotus and my Betta loved to lie on its leaves, it grew magnificently for a little while (4 weeks) and then just suddenly died for no apparent reason

Mine looked something like this, only a lighter pink on the flower.

Them guppies spent a lot of time under those.
