You may have seen my earlier post about the Satellite Compact light fixtures, but, would 2x96 watts for a 45 gallon planted fish tank be too much light?

Now i know it all depends on the kind of plants I have. I have a variety of plants that need high light and some that prefer low light (<2 W per gallon).

In general, do you think 2x96 W would be overkill?

... provided you're able to provide a good balance of light, CO2 (which most likely means a pressurized system), and fertilizers.

If not, that much light will most likely result in soup.
