Hello, I am new to fish keeping. Started for my children 5 or 6 years ago with a small 20l tank with a few cold water fish. Learnt a bit about keeping fish. Now I have a fresh warm water 70l tank. I have 1 guppy, lots, maybe 14 of danios, and lots of baby platys. I have been trying my luck with plants as well. I have a java Fern, and some other cheap plants I don't know the names of.

Welcome, post a couple of photos of your tank and we can help you identify your fish and plants

Ok.
So your plants are Java Fern, Ambulia and Heteranthera and a Hygrophilia. If these stemmed plants look dead, leave them there they will grow their aquatic leaves. The fish are Platies, Guppies and I think Giant Danios. But maybe Leopards. Need better photos. Welcome Kiwi I hope I can help.

Do you know what type of danio this is?
Honestly from the photos I can't tell. It is not that important because they require similar conditions and behave the same. We need a side on view in focus to positivity identify the fish.

The Lfs sold me the danios and kindly told me 5 feature fish which were 2 guppies and 3 platys. I have just found out that the live-bearers like hard water at 10dgH. My water is soft at around 2. By your reckoning could I add the lime chip to increase the GH and keep all the fish?

That is what I would be doing. All though just monitor your fish. Don't panic if the fish seam happy do nothing. A happy fish will have its fins erect all the time will swim in the middle of the tank and will eat food when it is put in the tank. If your fish are doing those things do nothing but enjoy your fish.

I added the lime chip today. A handful in the tank.
