I absolutely love this fish. The comparison is uncanny and has given me the biggest chuckle in a while. Pretty soon our forum here will become the national home of fish with issues (fishues not fishes) hahaha lovin it!

Aww poor thing. He looks jacked up. But I don't think it's a he at all looks I think it's a female. At least she can eat well and now she has a good chance at living out her life. It's nice that you would take in such a strange looking fish good save. It will be interesting to see how long she lives. In general Fish that are that deformed normaly don't live as long. But she made it this far. With the right conditions we will see. Good luck with her.

out of interest how can you tell the gender sevs now known as deformed Davette

See the severum in my avatar that's a male. You can tell by the markings on the gill plates and head. Yours have little to no spots or markings on her head and body so I think its safe to say you have a female.

Now I have a camera, (have I told you yet I have a camera ) I finally have a pic of Finny/tufty, the sev I rescued from the filter when he was less than 5mm long with a pair of tweezers. I only saw the damage I had done trying to save him as he got bigger.

wow that little guy is a strong one to have lived throw that and being that deformed still growing. He is a fighter. very interesting.
