Internal To External

Hello,

Have a relatively recently cycled tank and would like to move from internal to external filtration.

Have purchased external filter.

Should I wait for a while before making the change or is now a good a time as any?

Do any of the experts on this marvellous forum have any advice on how best to effect this change?

If your readings are all fine and stable you can do it now. It's quite simple to do, just stuff as much of the media from the internal as you can into the external, then turn on the external

Take the media from the internal, put it in the external. Run the external, no biggie. If the media is an odd size that doesn't seem to fit a good pair of heavy scissors often solves that.
