Internal Parasites?

You can get epsom salts from any drug store, it's a people med too.

Yes I agree a drugstore or chemist, sometimes you can get it at super markets.

Was thinking of anti internal bacteria med by interpet.

Right, I'll see if I can get some locally then. He's gone right downhill behaviour wise. Just sat still close to the bottom.

Well, he's a lot perkier, swimming about and up to the top. I've got some magnesium sulphate from work so I'll try him with that tonight. Teaspoon per gallon? UK or US?
I keep dropping a couple of the tiny granules in but haven't seen him eat them yet.

It sounded like he was at death's door.
Bless him he's a fighter.
Good Luck.

Worked out the volume is about 10 US gallons. I searched on the net and found tons of different amounts recommended. I thought better to add too little rather than too much, so I've added 1/2 teaspoon for now.

Sorry ellena didn't notice you was asking me a question.
Glad you worked it out.

I think US gallons is less than UK gallons.

He's still with us. He's in the 60l in about 40l of water with an airstone added yesterday. Still rests on the bottom a lot, but also has a good swim round now and then too. Very hard to see if he eats as he doesn't come to the top to be fed. I'm putting in a couple of grains every other day and presuming he's eating them. He's not so bloated but still a deformed kind of shape. It was 7th feb when I first noticed him, so he's been ill for a month and I've only seen him eat for definite once in that time.
I wanted to separate him to protect the other fish. Do you think he's 'safe' yet?

To be honest no.
If he goes downhill any further I would put him out of his misery.
Also wear gloves if you have cuts on your hands.

I think we're loosing him. He's got that wonky, gaunt look the others had and he's just bobbing at the top of the heater :(
On the plus side, no further outbreaks in the 'main' tank. Probably shouldn't have said that :hyper:

Ok.
Poor thing.
If you think he's suffering it would be kinder to end his misery.

He's gone now anyway :rip: One strange thing is his eyes are completely black now he's dead, but they weren't, even up to this morning.
I had discounted the TB as they had no other symptoms apart from the skinniness. This is the first one I've found with the black eyes. I really hope it was a parasite. The nematode med did seem to stop the outbreak. It was one every couple of weeks and none now for almost 5 weeks.
I'll just have to keep an eye on the main tank won't I? I plan to set the 60l up after the summer this year, so that will be time to see if there are any more problems.

Bless Him.
R.I.P.

Just keep a close eye on the fish.
As for the black eyes not sure what it means after death, but before death it can be a symtom of fish tb.

I'm going to see if I can get him tested. If it is TB, the best hope of treating the rest is antibiotics, so I need to get a vet involved anyway.
