Yes they can lower your PH. People use them as a water conditioner. They release anti-bacterial substances, lower the pH, and absorb harmful chemicals.

I cannot speak for Killis, but they are very good for Discus. They can be used to stimulate breeding and in general promote good health. I imagine such a good prodcut would only benefit Killis but i have found not specific info for you at this time.

I understand they are good for kilies in terms of lowering pH, but don't speak from personal experience.

Ketapang is an Indonesian word so maybe they should be called Indonesian almond leaves ?

If you are looking to lower your hardness and pH, why don't you use peat, Rock? I am sure it is much easier to get and cheaper.
