Hi All,

My heavily pregnant orange platy is displaying odd behaviour. For the past 18 hours or so she's been wedged in the gap behind the filter right at the surface of the water - not feeding and looking a bit forlorn. I missed my last two livebearers births so not sure what to look for but was wondering if this was a sign that she was close to giving birth since everyone else seems fine?

16 gallon tank
nitrite & ammonia both 0
nitrate just under 10
ph 7
temp 27c

If shes really fat then she could be about to give birth but different fish do different things when they are about to drop.
Has she been pregnant for around a month?
Just keep an eye on her just now and see if her behaviour changes or stays the same over the next couple of days. What other fish is she in with?

she is really fat and her gravid spot is full of little black eyes. She's in with 2 other orange platys - one male, one female and three black mollies - 2 female
1 orange platy fry and 3 black mollie fry - from the last 2 births - which i didn't notice till I saw the fry!

Usually a sign when they hide away and get grumpy that there about ready to give birth, leave her alone, don't want to stress her, turn tanks light out, good luck.
