I made a massive journey today from my home near Wisbech, first to Milton keynes, then from there to Bury St Edmunds, to collect the new stand I won off ebay and then the new tank. I'm shattered and eager to set it up tomorrow. Couldn't do it when I got back as it was dark. I think I'll go out tomorrow after it's been set up and buy some gravel. I think I'll have to wait for the plants which I plan to buy online as it is cheaper to buy a 100 plant collection online than it is from the local places.
Does anyone else buy plants online and which sites do you recommend for them?

greenline are well regarded online shop. great advice if you call them too ;)

I've just looked at the site and they are only 3 miles up the road from me so I may ring them tomorrow and go and collect some. Yippeeeeeee!!!!!

result - do give them a ring as they work very odd hours (I chatted to tem at midnight before now  )

does anyone have java moss in their tank? Is it any good?

yep - its great for fry to hide in and feed off of (as it traps stuff to eat)
Do you want some? :D

I may want some for my community tank as I plan it to be fairly heavily planted. Would a plec' be suotable in a community tank and if so, is there a species which only grows to about 3" maximum?

It can be a bit tricky to get it under control to start with - but once its attaced to some wood it just needs trimming to keep it under control.

There are loads of plecs that get to 4"-5"... there is a pinned thread in the plec section that has about 30 plecs that stay relativley small. the list has thir common name and adult size on it ;)

If you plan to go heavily planted please be aware or should i say beware of some plecs as they just love em broad leaved plants lol (as i found out with bristle nose and amazons) it didnt matter what i gave them the amazons took 1st place on the menu lmao..

The missus was starting to get a little algae on her glass so this was a great excuse to move them into her guppy set up (by the morning the glass was crystal) they have to be the buisiest two little plecs ive seen ...

I don't mind at all. I'll just keep replacing what they eat or give them fruit and stuff if appropriate.
