lol...i bought it as a female, got it home, qt'ed it, woke u to the biggest bubble nest ive ever seen...
decided it was a male, moved it to a 5 gallon.
Stared at it for a week....no signs of maleness.....decided I was delusional.
Went to move it into a divided tank....and it mini-flared. So male it is.
This morning I swear it looked eggy.
Now, I really dont care anymore lol....its an it!!!

(and my new years resolution is to get a camera and NOT drop this one in a tank.....so pics WILL follow lol)

my females do a mini flair and around males they will build tiny bubble nests.

oh no...this was no tiny nest......the ENTIRE surface was COVERED in bubbles....i had to break it apart to feed her/him.... and now i swear it looks like a male, but i put it in a breeder net in the female tank as a test, and it doesn't act like a male, it acts like all my females that I have....

this fish is driving me nuts...

i have a a shim fish too (she/him) i have never been able to tell, until for sure i put a male betta in a tank next to her divided of course and he blew a huge bubble nest just for her. she of course not impressed :p

lol...my males arent even helpful lol...the only one that doesnt flare at EVERYTHING is the one that hasnt flared once in the two years Ive had him....

anyone want to lend me a "normal" male so i can sex my fish?? lol....

im half considering letting it loose in my female tank to see if its a female or not, but I dont want to spend 10 hours sitting next to my tank, poised with my net to dive in and rescue the others if it turns out to be a male.....

sigh

I had a black orchid CT pair that would do that with each other though they were in different tanks
