Hiya, I'm a little worried about my male betta, shimmer.
Over the last few days and today he doesnt appear to be acting like himself, he usually is quite energetic rushing round the tank and just always active!
But he seems to be less active and swimming around a bit sadly as if hes upset.
Hes still swimming and eating but he seems to be a down, any ideas or could he just be getting relaxed in his home?

Hmm, if he still looks healthy, no damaged fins, water is fine etc etc.

Then perhaps he just needs something new to stimulate him. Maybe re-arrange the tank and do a small water change and see if that makes him a bit happier.
Or possibly get him a new plant?

I dont have much variety of stuff for the tank, i'm getting some new plants in the post in the next few days so hopefully that will perk him up! x

I think he could do with a great new tank set-up.
I wish there was something i could handmake lol, urm ill have to have a think!
Its just the tank that bugs me, its very narrow but tall Xx

Shuffle the stuff around that is already in there and check your water stats.

You use a stingray filter don't you?

I would check your water,

Have you changed the media in it? Stingrays use zeolite which is not an actuall filter media, i had murderouse troubles with off the chart ammonia and it led back to the zeolite which absorbs ammonia but only for a short time, after that it becomes saturated and stops working i would replace it with normal filter media like i did.

Just squeeze out the zeolite into a bowl use the new media to mop it up then put it back in the filter and away you go.

Just a heads up for future reference :good:

Didn't you just get the betta? Doesn't it take time for the betta to adjust to its surroundings?

You just take a clean bowl and squeeze the zeolite into that then use the new media to mop it up.

What are your water test results?

Ahaa, i just added a small blue ball and he loves it, flaring alot tho lol!
I left it in for an hour and come back upstairs to find he'd already started making a biggish bubble nest, now when i show him the ball he dives for it and when its in the tank he stays close to it and plays with it, i love him so much! He just needed some entertainment i guess.
I'll go get some tank results now, last time i checked them was this morning.

Hes going mental about the ball, he just wrapped himself round it, i struggled to get it off him, now when it ake it out he jumps for it and follows it like crazy when i pull it around the tank! Hes obsessed with it really!
How long can i put it in for daily?
