After some change around I will have my BiOrb Life 45l empty, I've had cold and tropicals in it before.

But I am now stuck as what to do with it...thinking of doing something different with it for example have frogs or crabs or a lobster what ideas do you guys have?

Ideally needs to be reasonably low maintenance and not too costly to setup.

How about a large shrimp colony? Plant it out with small leafy plants and lots of moss up that middle column - look for guides on making moss walls one of them would bend round pretty nice I think.

Then add in some Cherry Shrimp or any of the species available to you :) Just not ammano or wood as they are a bit too big.

Crabs not sure if they would work as getting the land section would be hard in there. Lobsters would get too big as well.

They are very beautiful tanks, I agree with Wills! Plant it out and get some red cherry shrimp!

I quite like that idea...some questions then for you...
I've had it setup for goldies so is it best to strip out, clean it and cycle it for tropical or just change majority of the water?
I've still got the filter media on the bottom will that be fine for the shrimp or will they require a finer substrate?
Likewise will the filter be fine for them as well?

Then moving to the next stages how many is good to start with and I've read about people breeding them - how easy is it and then would the babies or at least some make good food for my other tank?

Cheers in advance.
