Bought it as a Jade eye, but if you compare this one to minnnt's (hope you dont mind me using the photo)

I've had it for about 6-8 weeks expecting the colour to fade - i thought it may have been a sign of dominance as it is housed with another jade eye.

What do u think?

Check out my other thread Matt about them. Markandhisfish also had some and he posted up some pictures of them. They do change colour quite considerably.

This species does change dramatically as his pictures demonstrate. As for what the colouration of yours means, i have no idea. lol.

The other is a Sajica which it sometimes gets confused with. Mine are definately Spilurus and not Saj's.

theres as minnt said sajica and spirulus , both known commonly as jade eyed cichlids . any chance of a pic of it out in the open?

Sounds familiar...

imo, Sajica's are nicer, but thats just my opinion. I think Sajica's are also called T-Bars and have a fair bit of different colouration iirc.

Sorry for the crap picture, will take a better one when 1) My battery has charged, 2) The fish comes out into the open (its found home in a "cave" in the bogwood

Spilurus shape for sure. Sajica's have more of a pronounced forehead if that makes sense. Alot more rounded.

lol same here i too have an empty tank but due to the nature of the fish i keep it has to stay that way in case of emergency

I GIVE UP! Anyone want an Angel? It must be the most curious fish ever! Everytime i'm just about to take the picture of the Jade eye it will wiggle its way into the picture!

For people reading this its probably funny! But the one time I am trying to take a decent picture its really infuriating!!
