My baby angel suffered an accident when bringing her home last week (cat knocked her and a clown loach out of their bucket) well now she seems to have ick. Has anyone ever given a angelfish a salt dip? I've raised the temp on my tank and will put the UV sterilizer on tomorrow probably but was thinking in the mean time it might be a good idea to give her a salt dip. What do you think?

Salt is fine but Betta-Care white spot treatment is better, i use it on all my cichlids because its not powerful enough to hurt them if you add to much.

Hey Vip, thanks for answering my post. Seems you’re always around to answer questions and I appreciate it. I hate medicating my tanks, so would this med require me medicating the whole tank?

edit:hammered

ahhhhhh, hmmm, yeah it would mean that you would have to med the whole tank.
Turn up the heat and add the salt see what happens by tormorrow, if it gets worse then you might have to med the tank.

I've turned up the heat and have attached the UV sterilizer. I was hoping to do a single treatment for the angel itself w/out messing with the tank cuz there are plants in there. Hopefully once the parasites move to the free swimming stage they would get killed by the UV. If I giver her a 2 minute salt bath in a small container how may tsp of salt should I add?

Wow, that doesn't seem like much for a salt dip. But that's what I’ll do then. Tomorrow I’ll just put a tsp of salt in this jar/container thing i use for the fish and put her in there for a couple. Hopefully that will zap what's on her and the UV will take care of the rest.
