Yup, they'd be fine in a 10g. They get to 3 inces but are slender and not very active. Make sure you provide them with a rock (I use slate) so they can hide, otherwise they might get stressed. I find they they will pick a rock and stay there. All 3 of mine stay under a very small piece of slate, there's at least 5 other pieces, but thy only want that one. It's preety crowded under there, too, I often see heads or tails sticking out.
Also, you will want to make sure the tank is completely covered, and make sure they can't get in the filter either.
