I Think My New Boy Is Ill. Help

Oh Marie, I'm so sorry that you've got all this worry and stress with your new boy. You've been waiting for him for sooo long. It is normal for a new betta not to eat for a few days so don't worry about his appetite right now. My white boy spends a lot of time lying at the bottom of the tank,- often on his side. It still makes me nervous when I see him like this,- but then he'll get up and have a little swim around his tank for a while before going for another rest!

I do hope that your boy is just similar to mine, and that you don't have anything serious to worry about. Fingers crossed hun x

steve just rang me and gave me loads of advice, he's such a nice guy. Since adding the endlers he's swimming around and has just eaten some bloodworms!!!!!! Steve did say he was next to loads of others and was flaring away. You wouldn't think a betta would get so depressed and lonely but maybe it was the case. Hopefully he will continue like this. I did only add two endlers as I didn't wanna bombard him.

Betta fish are quite happy on their own as far as im aware, him moving around now could be caused by the stress of new fish in the tank not because hes happier so what you might feel is good, might be quite bad. Dont worry though im not saying thats the case, dont go on a guilt trip! Im just saying, being able to tell if a fish is happy or not isnt an art you learn very quickly.

Its a shame they dont have thumbs to give you the thumbs up :D Not like the Cravendale cats!

Thanks I won't get my hopes up.

marie, my male seems to be a lil like your male, i had him in my community tank but had to take him out because he got attacked and fin-nibbed. put him in his own tank and he seemed lonely, so i added endlers (3 to start with) and he is so much happier with the other fish in his tank and the endlers leave him alone and don't fin-nip. plus they are so colourful!

Thanks everyone, well he has turned the corner for sure today. He's been swimming around all day. He's also eating fine.

Glad to see he's perked up, maybe it was the free food you put in there for him that he needed afterall!

Really glad to hear that he's turned a corner Marie! I hope that you feel more relaxed now and can finally start to enjoy your gorgeous boy! :good: :D
