I bought my 55 gallon tank back in the mid 90s so when I decided to get back in the hobby I replaced everything but the tank, hood and stand. So I took out the old florescent lights and replaced them with Aqueon floramax T8 aquatic plant lights.

Byron will correct me if I am wrong but I think the K rating for the white tubes is good for plants.

It's certainly working for my plants, the one at that back near the filter needs a trim as it's going to be touching the hood soon if I leave it much longer.
