I Think Hector Is Getting Old :(!

He's bee pretty slow moving yesterday and today. I gave him a 75% water change the other day and since then he's been acting strange. He came up and ate a little today but he's just really slow and not active. He doesn't look to be ill or anything. doesn't seem to be swimming abnormal besides slower and not much. Also he hasn't made a bubble nest since he got his new 5 gallon home about two months ago. Any ideas?

how old is he actually? try adding alittle aquarium salt. maybe changing his diet up alittle for some excitment!

He has a pretty diverse diet, bloodworms, brine shrimp, pellets, peas, and sundried shrimp. I've had him about 8 months. and He's been pretty full grown since Ive had him. I'd assume he was atleast a year old when I got him.

What are the water stats?
Did you add anything to the water in his "new home"? Like water conditioner?
If not, did you cycle the tank?
What's the temp?

My boy Hurley has never built a bubblenest in the 3 months i've had him, but he's always happy and active. too old?

I don't have any test strips right now, I just ran out. Last I checked, after the water change everything was normal. The tank had been running for around 2 months and had another betta in it before. So it was fine. I wonder also if it could be the fact that my room can get VERY hot int he day and I've been kinda worried aboutt he water getting too warm for them. any ideas on colling tanks? his tank is up near 86 right now ><! but so are mny other two boys and they are just fine and normal.

8 months isn't very old.. something might be wrong with it

I know 8 months isn't old but you also figure he's atleast a year old being froma pet store. he was completely fullt tail and color when I got him. so I wouldn't be suprised if he was older than a year when I got him.



EDIT: he's moving around a bit better today. He's been eating a little. This is why i hink he's getting old. He doesn't move, but he can and will when he needs to for air or food. Otherwise he doesn't move much.
