they were flaring at each other for most of today, im going to try and find some 'not clear' acrylic so that i can put that in so they dont flare at each other all day. anyhow i gotta rush. thought it was pretty cool. my selfmade acrylic divider with perforation :)

I like it although i prefer more plants in my tank but thats just my prefrence, i should have built my own divider i bought mine :p

It would look 10x better with some sensible gravel and real plants in that rather than the comedy coloured stuff :)

The males need a place to go rest out of sight from each other. It is more than a matter of esthetics. It is very stressful to them to not be able to retreat to a place they where they feel safe. In addition Betta do like to have a comfy place to sleep. IME the preference is a soft leafy spot near the water line.

I don't personally have any objection to artificial. If there are no live plants to consume the wastes, I usually try to keep the substrate pretty shallow, so it can easily be cleaned.

But other than those tips, I think your boys are lovely. And I like fufu stuff sometimes, myself. Good idea about the solid insert for the boys. They will usually hide though if provided a retreat.

You could line sum real plants up againsed the clear devider so the can see each other but not all the time. Otherwise it looks great and the gravel isant that bad.

thanks for the advice guys

the plant in their now is real, i forget what its called though. any recommendations on other plants to get, in its present location it gets minimal sunlight. i can agree with the gravel, but it works for now. if i could get rocks that were colorful i would consider doing that. i just dont want plain old road construction gravel.

I thought those were real plants, I but wasn't sure. You can take cuttings from them and they will root. If possible consider a large leaf plant--a cloth one attached to a weight is fine--for each side of the tank and that reaches the surface for their "hammocks". Decore is expensive. Personally I would concentrate on providing comfort for the Betta first. The coral and substrate is fanciful but colorful.

Only thing is, decore should not be rough or scratchy. It shouldn't be able to tear the fins.
