I Present Sir Lexington - Update: Question?

the 'creatures' in the bottom photo are kuhli loaches :) theyre awesome little buggers. i have 7 of them

They're very cool, I gather they need a sand substrate? Might put sand in my new tank when I get it and get some, they're seriously cute. Damn, but I've been bitten by the fish bug badly!

There's heaps of pinned topics in the Betta forum on sexing and breeding etc, maybe you can find the answers to your questions in there :)

they dont need sand im just a sand fan. it works for me for a number of reasons. firstly in my main tank where i have the girls, i have the corys and the kuhli loaches plus some bristlenose plecs. these guys really love sand so they can dig and burrow etc all my other tanks have sand except for the livebearer tank which i am converting to sand this weekend as i can never get all the bubbas out as they hide in between the rocks etc and it would be so much easier for me to use sand. all in all i think it doesnt matter too much. some people would say the sand and bettas are bad yet i have never had a prob with it. the only time its a must is with bottom dwellers like corys and loaches etc who like to burrow.

i also find sand easier to clean as the poop and food dont fall down between the rocks so on tank cleaning day i just run the vac over the sand surface and it picks up everything...no leaving poo behind between rocks :)

also, the fish bug is a bugger to get rid off isnt it hehe

They're both gorgeous! The female is definatly a veiltail.
 thank you!! i love my guys so muuuuuuuuuuuch hehe

thanks for the advice on the variety...i thought she was veil tail but hadnt had enough expereince identifying females to know for sure :)

p.s. jozlyn - just realised you were talking about the loaches when you asked if they need sand and thats a yes :)

ive taken some more pics without a flash to try and get his true colours. the flash makes them look so different
