I Need Your Help

Read the beginners corner on the Fancy Guppy site Tolak has given you.
There is a wealth of information there.
As a Killifish enthusiast I am a member or the Americian Killifish Assoc (AKA)
the British Killifish Association (BKA) and
the Scandinavian Killifish Assoc (SKS)
I have amassed much knowledge over many, many years, so a little bit of advice Join the IFGA
$25 is a snip for the education and top quality stock (pure breds) you will have access to.
Paying particular attention to sub-menus

BREEDERS AND SHOW FISH
BREEDING A PURE STRAIN
KEEPING BREEDING RECORDS

This is a really good thread, Tolak has given you some really good pointers.
I would also go with the Guppy/Quality thing.
Be aware (not IFGA related) most commercial breeders in the far east dont sell pure breds and when supplying will send males and females of different strains.
This is purely commercial and money related.
I wish you all the best.

Thank's! I cant join IFGA until i get a job as im broke. I read the begginer's info, and it is really valuable. I was wondering, how exactly do you keep a Breeding record? Also, could someone identify this strain? My male is half blonde, half black with red fin's.

Start at the bottom then,
Breed a few guppies, sell them on, save the money for the IFGA, sell some more guppies, use the proceeds toward top quality true strains.
Move in stages, if your committed, you'll do it.
You'll only get out of your venture by way of the time you are prepared to put into it.
If you look at the IFGA information page there is someone from you region, give them an email for further assistance and guidance.

Im in school so afterward's and saturday's leaves me alot of time to put in it! I will check and see if someone there is from my area. I would also have to get my mom's permission to join the club, but right now sahe said no club's as she dosent trust me. So does any one have any idea what strain my males are. They both look the same. Also, one of my male's tail's has thee pointsd on it, the top, middle and bottom of his tail. What kinda tail would that be called?

I would really like to know what kinda strain they are! I also have a female with a red tail, and she was with all those one strain male's, so im guessing that she is a strain breeding female!

Though I agree with some of the comments above about not expecting to get rich, I think breeding GBRs would at least pay off. There are 2 LFS' that I've been able to find within about 30 miles that sell them, and both sell out within a day or two (especially when I show up :) ), despite continually raising the prices. One store near me has them for $14 each right now.

Anyhow, GBR's are awesome little fish, and apparently people are willing to pay a lot for them.

I agree with confusion GBRs are great fish. I have also found most types of rainbow can fetch a fair price. Although it takes 8-12 months for them to grow big enough to sell. Breeding is very easy, I had a pair of boeseami breed in my quarantine tank a few days after I got them, but I didn't know until the eggs hatched  . Raising them is the hard thing I was able to raise 5 to the point where I could sell them. That was the first time I had raised a fish that wasn't a livebearer :D . You would need some good quality fish to make a profit off it though. I saw some wild male boeseamis at a LFS for $40 each that where gorgeous  . I am trying right now to breed my swordtails and am find it difficult  .

GBRs are German Blue Rams, gorgeous and full of personality.

very interesting thread
Male guppies are so fragile as commercial companies breed and interbred thousand of fish to get them a certain colour and they have bred from weak fish and not culled any of fry as a live fish = money. When they are bred they power feed the young newly hatched brineshrimp to get them to sale size very quickly often too quickly. Shops receive them and most of them die.
So if you bred guppies which were colorful and fairly hardy and make your self a name you will be doing the industry a favor and fellow fish keepers.
Gud luck jonny

Thank's!!!!!! I have noticed how fragile they are. I am starting to have a issue with one of my beautiful male's! I feed baby brine shrimp and would probably sell them after having them until they are a little bit older than breeding size, as not to contaminate the strain. Also, i plan on staying with guppies + what ever livebearer has fish until i can upgrade tnak size or get fish that are worth more. Either that or i can try to get a male molly and a female guppy to interbreed again, as last time i was given 4 dollars for a 1 inch guppy/molly hybrid A.K.A. Golly.
